Jiří Georg Dokoupil
Dokoupil‘s work is aligned with the Dadaism movement, so the artist refuses to accept a uniform, enforced style for his work. As a result, his work is full of various experimental techniques: he creates paintings using colored soap bubbles, candle soot, or single patches of film. The common characteristics of his work are expressionism and an erotic charge. His oeuvre contains over sixty series and more than one hundred unique techniques and styles, including his famous soap bubble, candle and tire paintings. As a founding member of Mülheimer Freiheit and the Junge Wilde art movement - and friend to notable figures including Andy Warhol and Jean-Michel Basquiat - Dokoupil is yet another Czech artist who has made an impression on the global art world.
