Beáta Hechtová
Beáta Hechtová presents her own vision of a post-apocalyptic world. The creatures that have survived are building a new society, forming tribes, connecting with nature, and trying to understand their surroundings. The author focuses on the search for a new home and rediscovering oneself. She draws inspiration from various cultures and their rituals, myths, and legends, which she combines into unique rituals of a possible future. She emphasizes the principles of cooperation and collective experience. She refers to the chosen motifs as "futuristic folklore." In her figurative painting, she depicts hints of characters existing on the border between human, animal, and spirit. Although we cannot see their faces, we observe them in various activities or interactions with each other. They wear futuristic costumes or remain transparent. We do not perceive them as individuals, but rather as symbols representing society, observing their hybrid bodies, accentuated by claws, thorns, or other physical deformities. They strive to adapt to their new environment and redefine their identity.
DSC Gallery presents the group exhibition Forgotten Realms, bringing together the work of four contemporary artists – Botond Keresztesi, Dominik Styk, Beáta Hechtová, and Kristýna Navrátil. Although none of them currently live in Prague, each returns to the city in their own way: through memory, imagination, cultural experience, a sensitivity to the city as a place of historical layers, myths, and transitional states.
